Will Hull end 2016 bottom of the Premier League? (Hull v Everton - Friday from 7pm, Sky Sports 1 HD)

Hull were bottom of the pile at Christmas but the Tigers could move off the foot of the table with a win against Everton.

Mike Phelan's side are without a win since beating Southampton on November 6 though, and ended the last two calendar years with defeats, losing 1-0 to Leicester City and Preston in 2014 and 2015 respectively.

Can Jose make it five wins in a row for the first time at United? (Manchester United v Middlesbrough - New Year's Eve, 3pm)

Jose Mourinho's longest Premier League winning streak at Manchester United came in his first four games in charge for the club, but his side could break that record by beating Middlesbrough on New Year's Eve.

United are unbeaten in the top flight since their 4-0 humbling against Chelsea on October 23. They have also kept a clean sheet in their final league game of 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 and will be confident of continuing their run.

Middlesbrough were happy visitors to Old Trafford in the League Cup last season though, beating United on penalties 3-1 after a 0-0 draw. Aitor Karanka's side have lost three of their last four Premier League games and will have a tough task in stopping an in-form United before the year's end.

Will Ranieri recall Mahrez? (Leicester v West Ham - New Year's Eve, 3pm)

Riyad Mahrez, last season's PFA Player of the Year, was dropped for the first time since October 2015 for Leicester's defeat at home to Everton on Boxing Day.

Claudio Ranieri's side have now won just one of their last nine Premier League games and the champions could end 2016 dangerously close the the relegation zone with another defeat against an in-form West Ham side.

Slaven Bilic's team delivered the Hammer blow to Bob Bradley's reign at Swansea on Boxing Day and will be looking for their fourth straight victory at the King Power Stadium.

Will Chelsea equal Arsenal's record? (Chelsea v Stoke - New Year's Eve, 3pm)

Antonio Conte's side marched to their 12th straight victory when they beat Bournemouth 3-0 on Boxing Day even without star duo Diego Costa and N'Golo Kante.

The result broke a club record for consecutive wins and another three points against Stoke would put the Blues on par with rivals Arsenal's longest stretch of 13 victories in a row within a season, recorded during the 2001/02 campaign.

How does Chelsea's winning run compare to Europe's longest?

However, Chelsea failed to win either of their games against Stoke City last season (D1 L1), and the Potters have ended the last two calendar years with a league victory - 2-0 v West Brom in 2014 and 4-3 at Everton in 2015.

Conte could opt to bring Costa and Kante straight back into his side after their suspensions as the Blues look to end 2016 well clear at the top of the Premier League.

Can the Black Cats finally end a year with a win? (Burnley v Sunderland - New Year's Eve, 3pm)

Sunderland have not won their final game of a calendar year since 2007, picking up four draws and four defeats in the years since, and will travel to one of the Premier League's toughest grounds to try to end that run.

Only Chelsea and Tottenham have recorded more victories in their own stadiums than Burnley this season, with Sean Dyche's side picking up 19 of their 20 points at home.

Andre Gray believes poor travellers Burnley can preserve their Premier League status on home form alone, while Sunderland have won just once on their travels in the top flight this season, beating Bournemouth 2-1 in November.

Can the Saints go marching into 2017 in the top seven? (Southampton v West Brom - New Year's Eve, 3pm)

Southampton and West Brom have been hovering just outside the Premier League's top six for a number of weeks now, and though it will be just out of reach for Claude Puel's side at the end of 2016, the club could end it in the top seven.

Recent history is with Southampton too, having lost just one of their last six Premier League contests against the Baggies at home, while West Brom have also failed to score in five of their last six top-flight games against the Saints.

Southampton have failed to win their final league game of a calendar year since 2010 though and Pulis' side will be hoping to see in 2017 on a positive note after three defeats in their last four games.

Can a new boss lift the Swans towards safety? (Swansea v Bournemouth - New Year's Eve, 3pm)

Bob Bradley was sacked by Swansea after the 4-1 home defeat to West Ham on Boxing Day, with the club languishing in 19th place in the table.

But a win over Bournemouth - who are looking to finish the year in the top 10 - could see the Swans leapfrog Sunderland and move to within a point of safety, though they may need to sure up their defence to do so.

Swansea scored twice in both league games against Bournemouth last season but won neither match (drawing 2-2 at home and losing 3-2 away), while the last six league meetings between these two sides has seen 27 goals scored (4.5 per game).

Will Pep's scouting mission pay off? (Liverpool v Manchester City - New Year's Eve, 5:30pm)

Jurgen Klopp admitted he has not been to watch Manchester City, saying he did not feel the need to, after Pep Guardiola was spotted at Anfield watching the Reds' 4-1 win over Stoke on Tuesday.

Highlights of Liverpool's 4-1 win over Stoke

Liverpool can move four points clear of City by beating them in the final Premier League game of the calendar year, and history suggests they are in a good position to do just that.

Manchester City's last and only Premier League win at Anfield (D5 L13) came in May 2003, as Nicolas Anelka scored twice against his former club in a 2-1 victory.

The Reds have also never failed to score in their previous 19 home top-flight games against City.

Can Spurs start 2017 in the top four? (Watford v Tottenham - New Year's Day from 1pm on Sky Sports 1HD)

Mauricio Pochettino's side can move above Arsenal, temporarily at least, with a win at Watford in the first Premier League game of 2017.

The Gunners' fixture follows Watford v Spurs on Nissan Super Sunday, and Tottenham could put added pressure on their rivals by displacing them in the top four after a 4-1 thrashing of Southampton on Wednesday.

Troy Deeney finally secured his 100th Watford goal in their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace last time out, but the Hornets have lost their opening league game of a calendar year for five successive years now (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016) and could face a tough battle against Spurs this weekend.

Will Big Sam put Palace's unwanted 2016 record behind them? (Arsenal v Crystal Palace - New Year's Day from 3:30pm on Sky Sports 1HD)

Crystal Palace have the unwanted record of having the least wins of any side to have spent the whole of 2016 in the Premier League, having picked up just six top-flight victories over the last 12 months.

Sam Allardyce took over from Alan Pardew before Christmas but could not end 2016 with a win at Watford, meaning Palace will head to the Emirates hoping to secure their first victory of a new calendar year.

Arsenal have faltered in recent weeks after a strong period in the run up to the festive fixtures, needing a late winner from Olivier Giroud to beat West Brom following defeats to Everton and Manchester City.

However, Crystal Palace's only Premier League win against Arsenal came in October 1994 at Highbury, as John Salako scored twice in a 2-1 victory.
