West Ham boss Slaven Bilic was disappointed with his side's defeat at Leicester

Slaven Bilic focused on the positives after West Ham saw their three-game winning streak come to an end at Leicester.

The Hammers were second best for much of the first half at the King Power Stadium, succumbing to Islam Slimani's 20th-minute header.

In response, Michail Antonio struck the crossbar before half-time but, despite producing an improved second-half display, there was to be no way through the Leicester defence.

And, in light of his side's response to falling behind, Bilic insisted West Ham deserved to get something from the game.

"We are very disappointed because we played well and to lose it is frustrating," he told Sky Sports. "To be fair they started well, they started aggressively and deserved to score the goal.

Leicester 1-0 West Ham

"It was frustrating because they had a free-kick and broke easily. We defended badly. That was the case in the first 20 minutes, we were slow to react and we lost a few balls.

"The goal we conceded from a set piece, where they passed the ball and then the player ran and crossed was too easy for us.

"That was very disappointing, especially when that goal was the crucial moment of the game.

"After those 20 minutes we were the much better team and we had a few chances in the first half that we should have scored.

"In the whole second half we were the better team but they defended well with bodies and they are always dangerous on the counter with the type of players they have.

"I feel we played well and we deserved something from the game.

"We played well, better than in some of the games we have won. We have to build on this, there were a lot of positives in today's performance and we go on."

A tight encounter turned feisty at times at the King Power Stadium, with referee Anthony Taylor brandishing eight yellow cards in the game.

West Ham took offence with a high Daniel Amartey challenge on Mark Noble, a challenge which would rule the Hammers captain off with a knee injury.

Bilic, who is yet to learn the extent of Noble's injury, thought the game was played in a healthy and competitive manner.

"There were a few tackles, this is the Premier League," he added. "None of the tackles were deliberately nasty.

"There are no hard feelings about that, we can only hope Noble is not injured seriously. I did not see the game as bad tempered."

Asked whether a serious injury to Noble would draw West Ham into the January transfer market, Bilic replied: "No, no, no.

"I hope he is not seriously injured and it doesn't look like he is but we have to wait until tomorrow to see what really happened with his knee."
