Is Javier Hernandez the answer to West Ham's recent striker struggles?

The Mexico international is back in the Premier League after completing his £16m switch to the London Stadium from Bayer Leverkusen.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward is tasked with delivering the goals so many of his predecessors have failed to.

Since David Gold and David Sullivan acquired the club in 2010, the Hammers have signed 32 frontmen, yet a lack of goals continues to plague the Hammers.

Since 2012/13, Andy Carroll has the most from any of their out-and-out strikers, with 30 from his 98 games.

Diafra Sakho, who has been in the east end of London for the past three years, is next on this list with 16 from his 48 games, although injury limited him to just four league games last season.

Long-serving Hammer Carlton Cole netted 67 goals times for the club before he left for Celtic in 2015, while the recently departed Enner Valencia found the target on 10 occasions.

Club-record signing Andre Ayew, meanwhile, made 25 appearances in his first season at West Ham, scoring six goals as utility man Michail Antonio topped the scoring charts with nine.

Hernandez will be hoping to do a lot better than the strikers signed during the Gold-Sullivan era. See how many you can remember below...
