West Brom manager Tony Pulis has praised James McClean after his goal against Wales secured Republic of Ireland's place in the World Cup play-offs.
Baggies midfielder McClean scored in the 57th minute of the winner-takes-all clash at the Cardiff City Stadium on Monday night, ending Wales' chances of securing World Cup qualification for the first time since 1958 in the process.
That may have upset proud Welshman Pulis but McClean's club manager offered a glowing appraisal of his player's abilities.
"He won't be playing for me, not after what he did to Wales!" Pulis said ahead of West Brom's game with Leicester on Monday Night Football, live on Sky Sports.
"He's done brilliantly and he's a great lad. It was a great goal, great technique, on his right foot.
"I think James gives his best. You watch him training - sometimes he plays well, sometimes he doesn't play well - that's like all players.
"He is a great lad around the place and everyone has got great respect for him.
"He gives 100 per cent, week in, week out."
