Gary Megson tells West Brom’s assistant coach Ben Garner to stay away from training ground

General view of The Hawthorns

Gary Megson has told West Bromwich Albion's assistant coach Ben Garner to stay away from the training ground.

The pair are understood to have had a major disagreement over training methods and Megson made it clear to the club's board he wasn't prepared to work with Garner, despite working together under previous head coach Tony Pulis.

Megson, who managed West Brom between 2000 and 2004, took charge at The Hawthorns on an interim basis following the dismissal of Pulis on Monday, with the club languishing just above the relegation zone.

Garner, who arrived from Crystal Palace two years ago, remains a club employee but has been told to stay at home for the time being, until the club have appointed a new head coach.

Megson admitted he had "not thought about the West Brom job" on a full-time basis during a press conference on Tuesday after Pulis' sacking.
