How Romelu Lukaku and Roberto Firmino will try to create space in Man Utd v Liverpool

Are the strikers at Manchester United and Liverpool the most selfless in the PL? Danny Higginbotham looks at how both club’s use their main striker and how they both create space for other forwards in different ways.

Manchester United host Liverpool live on Sky Sports on Saturday lunchtime - and opposing strikers Romelu Lukaku and Roberto Firmino will be key to the outcome. 

However, while both players are fantastic finishers and goalscorers in their own right, they also have a big impact on their respective sides' method of attack.

In the video above, Sky Sports tactics expert Danny Higginbotham explains how their selfless play and movement creates space for their team-mates.

However, Lukaku and Firmino do this in different ways.

The United frontman has tended to drift into the channels. This encourages a centre-back to follow him, splitting the opposition's defence and allowing the likes of Alexis Sanchez room to exploit centrally.

In contrast, Firmino likes to drop deep. That movement drags a centre-back upfield and makes space for Liverpool's wide forwards Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane to run infield.
