Hamilton offer nowhere near Bairns' valuation of midfielder
Hamilton Academical have failed in a bid to sign highly-rated midfielder Scott Arfield from SPL rivals Falkirk.
Arfield has been linked with a string of clubs in England over the past 12 months, and has been scouted by Chelsea and Manchester United.
The Scotland Under 21 international has now been the subject of a bid from Hamilton, but the offer fell short of Falkirk's valuation.
Chairman Martin Ritchie told the club's official website: "The offer made by Hamilton was nowhere near our club's valuation of Scott Arfield and was immediately rejected.
"I thought they had missed out a zero in the figure they offered."
The 20-year-old is on a long-term contract at Falkirk and insists he is not looking to secure a move away from the club.
"I don't really have too much to say about the offer at all, it's not something that would interest me," Arfield said.
"I'm a Falkirk player and delighted to be here in the immediate future.
"One day I want to continue my career at a higher level and I will achieve that by continuing to work hard at this club which I have been proud to represent since youth level."
