Smith hoping to be able to spend funds

Walter Smith has confirmed that Rangers have agreed a fee with Plymouth for the sale of Alan Gow. Gow spent time on loan with Blackpool and then Norwich last season and Smith is now ready for him to leave on a permanent basis. Plymouth are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Championship season and will hope to push through the move as quickly as possible. Smith explained: "The fee has been agreed by the clubs and it's just up to the player to make his agreement with Plymouth, so we await the result of that." Charlie Adam has also joined Blackpool but Smith is not sure the latest departures will allow funds to be released for him to improve his squad. "We have to bring in a level of money and that will help, obviously, go towards it but we're still some way short," he explained.

Fleck

John Fleck, meanwhile, has been welcomed back into the Rangers fold after being dropped to the reserves at the weekend. He missed the Emirates Cup and there were reports of a training ground bust-up with assistant manager Ally McCoist, but Smith will consider him for the friendly against Manchester City on Wednesday night. "He'll be back into our squad tomorrow," said Smith.
