Midfielder looking forward to first-team football

Colchester United have snapped up Watford midfielder John Joe O'Toole on loan until the start of January. The move was completed before Tuesday's transfer deadline and he is in line to make his Colchester debut against Southampton this weekend. O'Toole has not made a first-team appearance for Watford this season and had been tipped to rejoin Sheffield United after finishing last term on loan at Bramall Lane. The 20-year-old is now reunited with new Colchester boss Aidy Boothroyd and is looking forward to the chance to play regular first-team football. "It gives me a chance to get playing again and get back out on the pitch to do my thing," O'Toole told the club's official website. "I know him (Boothroyd) well and I know what he expects from me so I am looking forward to the challenge. "Colchester have a fantastic stadium and I am really impressed. It has been frustrating not playing, but this will be a great place to get up and running again." The Republic of Ireland Under 21 international was given his senior debut by Watford in 2007 when Boothroyd was in charge at Vicarage Road.
