Luca Toni has admitted that he will weigh up his options should he not be a first team regular at Bayern Munich this season.
The Italy international is desperate to represent his country at next summer's World Cup and accepts that he needs to be playing in order to be selected.
The burly frontman has seen the opening to his 2009/10 campaign blighted by injury, preventing him from making an impact at Allianz Arena.
With Bayern having also brought in Ivica Olic and Mario Gomez to bolster their attacking options, Toni accepts that he faces a battle to win his place in the side.
He has made it clear, though, that he will not be prepared to hang around should Louis van Gaal choose to overlook him.
"If I am not given any playing time I will speak to the club, that declared me not transferable this summer, to understand what my future is," he said.
"There's a World Cup in a year's time and a title to be defended and I don't want to miss that chance."
Contract
Toni insists he would not force Bayern's hand in regards to a transfer, but admits he is eager to be involved as often as possible.
"First I have to be fit again, then I am not worried," he told
Kicker-Sportmagazin.
"But if my services are not required, I will consider a transfer. I will not be a burden to the club, though, and if I have to sit on the bench for a while I will.
"But I have a desire to play. I am a striker and I want to play for Italy at the World Cup."
Toni, who was linked with a move to England over the summer, is contracted to Bayern until 2011 and insists he would be happy to see out that agreement in Germany.
"I am looking beyond January, since I am sure that I will stay here," he added.
"If it was up to me, I would fulfil my contract."
