And defensive midfielder keen to impress ahead of World Cup

Celtic midfielder Landry Nguemo has told skysports.com that he is relishing his chance to shine in the Scottish Premier League as it will give him the opportunity to land a spot in Cameroon's World Cup squad. The combative holding man, who is at Parkhead on a season-long loan, has caught the eye since joining Tony Mowbray's side from French club Nancy. And the 23-year-old is hoping his impressive start to life in Glasgow has not gone unnoticed by Cameroon boss Paul Le Guen. "I am getting to know the Scottish league, it is a difficult league. People think this league is not on a good level - that is not true - the league is decent enough," said Nguemo. "I need a big season to get in the Cameroon squad for the African Nations Cup and the World Cup squad. "We started bad in qualifiers, but we have a big game against Togo very soon - we simply have to win that game. That will help enhance my reputation on the international stage." Nguemo, who has featured for his country on three occasions, has also targeted the European scene as a chance for him to show his capabilities. He added: "I am settling well, the manager trusts me, we lost against Arsenal in the Champions League, but we should do well in the Europa League."
