Ross McCormack is determined to force his way back into the reckoning at Cardiff, but admits he faces a tough task.
The talented forward has been out of action for six weeks after picking up a hamstring injury.
He did make a brief cameo appearance during the Bluebirds' last outing against Watford, but has now set his sights on a more regular role.
However, with Dave Jones' side having scored 10 goals in their last two matches, the Scotland international accepts that he has a battle on his hands.
"I'll grab my opportunity and score goals, no matter what position I play in," he told
Walesonline.
"My challenge is to be ready to play wherever selected. But I'll have to bide my time right now because Whitts (Peter Whittingham) and Burkey (Chris Burke) are both doing really well wide in midfield.
"Then if I look in attack both Chops (Michael Chopra) and Jay (Bothroyd) are in form.
"There's no doubt about it. I'll have to wait for my chance, But, believe me, I'll be ready when that comes. I'll be patient, but I'll grab any opportunity."
Quality
Bothroyd was on target in the 4-0 drubbing of Watford, but continues to incur the wrath of his boss.
Jones admits he is in danger of losing his voice after constantly bellowing instructions at his mercurial frontman, but insists the former Arsenal trainee remains an integral part of his plans.
"Jay still does things that annoy me, but his quality is there for all to see," he told said.
"Jay has everything you look for, but you just want a full game out of him. If he was closer when he goes down and stays down, I would be booting him.
"In this division if you have a big fellow who can hold the ball and win the majority of headers it puts opposing defenders under pressure.
"When Jay did not perform we didn't play as well as we are capable of. Jay is the one who needs to be put under pressure. He has to be under pressure verbally and I'll stick one on him if he doesn't do it."
