Davies hopeful over defender

Nottingham Forest defender James Perch has suffered a setback in his recovery from a long-term shin problem. The 24-year-old, who has been out since April with a stress fracture, was pencilled in to make his comeback for the reserves in midweek but had to withdraw from the game after sustaining an ankle injury in training. Forest boss Billy Davies was hopeful that the injury was not too serious. "He's picked up a slight ankle injury but it's not quite as serious as we first thought it would be," said Davies. "We thought it was more of an Achilles problem but thankfully it's not. "He is set for a scan and fingers crossed it won't be too bad. "But that's what happens when you are coming back from a long time out, you pick up other niggling injuries. It's been the same with Julian Bennett."
