City keen for Samba star to sit out England friendly

Mark Hughes has made it clear that he expects Robinho to play no part for Brazil against England. The Manchester City boss, who is currently away with the Blues on a mid-season trip to Abu Dhabi, has allowed his Samba star to join up with international team-mates ahead of Saturday's friendly fixture in Qatar. Robinho is, however, still carrying an ankle injury and Hughes is keen for him to play no part in the upcoming contest. The former Real Madrid ace did take part in an extensive training session with Dunga's side on Thursday, with reports suggesting he could be in contention for some role against the Three Lions. Hughes, though, insists that will not be the case, with City having sent a member of their medical staff with Robinho in order to ensure that no unnecessary risks are taken. "We sent our doctor with Robby because we wanted them to know in no uncertain terms that we felt he was very much of a risk," said the Welshman. "That's where we are with it. He has had one training session in eight to ten weeks, so to think that he would be ready for a full international against England would be foolhardy. "Obviously the decision was made that he could stay with them under the proviso that he doesn't take any part in the game. We don't expect him to play on Saturday."
