Hibs defender suffers hamstring strain

Hibernian manager John Hughes has revealed Kevin McCann has suffered a setback in his bid to recover from injury. The 22-year-old was close to returning to action recently having nearly featured against Hearts in the Edinburgh derby last time out. But McCann, who has only featured once in 18 months with knee problems, then tweaked his hamstring, on which he has already undergone a procedure. However, Hibs boss Hughes still thinks that the defender is likely to be out of action for anywhere up to four weeks.

Play up

"We'd been watching him very closely," he told the Edinburgh Evening News. "He was getting there and we were actually considering whether to put him in against Hearts. "Unfortunately, his hamstring began to play up again. "We got right onto it, there's a procedure which can be done and hopefully that will help him. But even so, we are talking anything up to a month."
