Hearts skipper free to face Terrors

Michael Stewart is free to play in Hearts' weekend clash with Dundee United after his red card against Hamilton was downgraded. The Jambos captain was dismissed following a clash with Accies skipper Alex Neil, but vehemently protested his innocence. However, Hearts appealed Stewart's sending off and after SFA disciplinary chiefs reviewed video footage of the tangle they have now downgraded his red into a caution. That means he is no longer banned for three matches and is free to face the high-flying Terrors at Tynecastle on Saturday. The appeal verdict comes just 24 hours after Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo called for referees to be held accountable for their mistakes after revealing he had written to the SFA asking for a "formal explanation" for the performance of the officials at New Douglas Park.
