Defender wants to help Magpies return to top-flight

Newcastle defender Steven Taylor is set to spurn offers from Premier League sides in the transfer window as he bids to help the Magpies return to the top flight. Everton and two other unnamed Premier League sides are thought to be interested in making a move for the 23-year-old. But Taylor insists he wants to complete the job of getting the club back into the top flight after being part of the side which was relegated last term. He told the Newcastle Chronicle: "I definitely want to stay. "I was part of the side that got us relegated and I want to be part of the side that helps us get our Premier League place back. "It's as simple that.

Very good

"It's been very good here this season - we're all enjoying our football and training. "We're much more together. We have team bonding sessions which we didn't have last year. "It's a total change." Taylor is hoping that Chris Hughton's squad stay together and push on for promotion. He added: "Until it's nailed on, I will pay no attention to talk of anybody leaving. You get so much speculation.
Main thing
"The main thing is that we keep all of our players this January. "And if we can add a couple more, it will be brilliant. "If not, the squad we have is good enough to take us to the Premier League. "We'll then see what happens."
