John Ryan is confident Billy Sharp will not be leaving Doncaster Rovers before the end of the season.

Rovers chairman not worried about losing striker in January

Doncaster Rovers chairman John Ryan is confident in-form striker Billy Sharp will not be leaving the Keepmoat Stadium before the end of the season. Sharp is on a season-long loan from Sheffield United and has netted 10 goals for Rovers, including scoring in his last six appearances. However, reports have claimed that the Blades could recall Sharp in January and sell him, with Barnsley purported to be planning a £750,000 bid. The 23-year-old is keen to see out the campaign with Rovers and Ryan is hopeful a permanent deal may eventually be agreed for the former Scunthorpe United ace. "He has a loan deal until the summer and does not have to go to any other club if he does not want to," said Ryan in the Yorkshire Post. "He has assured me that he wants to stay here and will make a decision on his next move in the summer. "That is excellent news for Doncaster Rovers and we will definitely throw our hat into the ring again at the end of the season. "Billy is enjoying his football and has a manager in Sean O'Driscoll who believes in him. He is loving the experience of feeling wanted again and has repaid us in goals."
