Robert Earnshaw feels Nottingham Forest proved just how far they have come during their FA Cup date with Birmingham.
The Reds were held to a goalless draw by the Blues on Saturday, but created the better of the opportunities during a keenly-fought contest at the City Ground.
Earnshaw wasted the best of those chances, when he fired a second-half penalty over the crossbar, and the in-form frontman has shouldered the responsibility for Forest's failure to claim a win.
However, the Wales international feels Billy Davies' men were much the better side against Premier League opposition and sees no reason why they cannot go to St Andrews in the replay and secure a fourth-round fixture against Everton.
"I've had a good run recently and I'm obviously disappointed with myself," Earnshaw said as he reflected on his failure from the spot.
"It was all about the contact, I didn't get the right contact and that split-second didn't go for me.
Unlucky
"It's my responsibility and I will take the next 15, 20 or whatever. The fans stayed with me and clapped me off. It shows how much they think of me.
"You replay it back in your mind but my approach would have been the same. It means we have to go again but this tie is not over.
"We pushed them as far as possible and on another day maybe we would have won two or three-nil.
"That's the good thing, we are disappointed not to be beating a Premier League team.
"If we perform like that again we should end up going through."
