Holloway rues missed chance as Swans step in

Skysports.com understands Blackpool have failed in their attempts to sign Panama international defender Roman Torres from Colombian side La Equidad. Instead the player may link up with Championship rivals Swansea City as he looks to secure a dream move to England. Voted the best defender in South America in 2008, Torres is relatively unknown outside his homeland, however he is seen as another hidden gem like fellow Central Americans Wilson Palacios and Antonio Valencia. With three offers already on the table from clubs around South America and Mexico who are due to play in South America's version of the Champions League, the Copa Libertadores, his current side have offered him a new improved three-year contract. Any deal, though, would include a loan spell to one of the aforementioned in a bid to gain further exposure and an increase in his value. A spokesman for La Equidad said: "Roman knows of the interest in England and would love to play there or Spain but with the new season about to start, he wants his future settled soon. "He's still only 23 and has many years ahead of him, if the move to Europe doesn't happen this season, I'm sure it will in the next year or two."
