Portsmouth manager Avram Grant admits he could recall David Nugent from his loan spell at Burnley.

Striker may miss out on Burnley extension

Portsmouth manager Avram Grant has confirmed he is weighing up bringing David Nugent back from his loan spell at Burnley. Nugent has spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Turf Moor and he has scored three goals in 15 Premier League appearances for the Clarets. He is due to stay with Burnley until later this month, but has previously expressed a desire to agree a deal at least until the end of the season. Owen Coyle, who is poised to leave Burnley in order to take over at Bolton Wanderers, had also suggested the club would try to sign the England cap on a permanent basis. However, with Portsmouth currently under a transfer embargo, Grant concedes he may have to recall Nugent to increase his attacking options. "We are thinking about this," acknowledged Grant. "In the next few days we will know. "It depends on many things. But it could happen." Nugent has struggled to make a sustained impact at Fratton Park since his arrival from Preston in 2007 and he has scored just six goals in 45 appearances for the club.
