Dagenham & Redbridge have confirmed an interest in signing Billy Jones from League Two rivals Crewe.

Still says full-back's price is currently out of club's reach

Dagenham & Redbridge have confirmed an interest in signing Billy Jones from League Two rivals Crewe Alexandra. Jones is on the transfer list at Gresty Road and is keen to leave Crewe before the close of the January window. He has been linked with an £85,000 switch to Dagenham but, while still interested in a deal, manager John Still admits the club cannot afford the current asking price. "We have asked about Billy but the money that they wanted for him was more then we could afford," Still told the Post. "We have said that if they come back with something closer to our valuation them we would be willing to talk." Jones started his career at Leyton Orient before joining Exeter and he moved to Gresty Road for £85,000 in May 2007. The 26-year-old, who is out of contract in the summer, has not featured for Crewe since a 2-1 home defeat to Port Vale on 17th October.
