Oldham captain Sean Gregan has been rewarded for his excellent form with a contract extension until the end of next season.
Despite being in his 35th year the experienced centre-half has been one of the club's most consistent players in what has been a miserable campaign to date.
Gregan was briefly released at the start of the summer by Latics boss Dave Penney, before weeks later he had a change of heart to offer him fresh terms.
The former Darlington and Preston favourite joined Oldham from Leeds United back in 2006 and has since gone on to make over 100 appearances in a Latics shirt.
Tough campaign
Gregan is confident Oldham will soon start to climb the table once key players return from injury at Boundary Park.
"I am delighted to have signed. It is now about getting some results on the pitch and for us to get out of the position in which we find ourselves," he told the club's
official website.
"There have been mitigating circumstances. We are getting injured players back and I am more than confident we can get out of trouble.
"I have never been one to sit in the comfort zone and I am already looking for my next contract as I want to play as long as possible, whether in this division, the one below or with my mates on a Sunday morning."
