Real Zaragoza have confirmed the free signing of Brazilian midfielder Edmilson from Palmeiras.

Brazilian captured to boost relegation fight

Real Zaragoza have confirmed the free signing of Brazilian midfielder Edmilson from Palmeiras on a five-month deal with the option for another year. The 33-year-old becomes the latest player to arrive at the Primera Liga strugglers following the captures of Roberto, Matteo Contini, Jiri Jarosik, Eliseu, Adrian Colunga and Humberto Suazo. Zaragoza sit 18th in the Spanish top flight and they will therefore be hoping that the new signings will boost hopes of avoiding relegation at the end of the season. Former Villarreal player Edmilson was a part of the Brazil side that won the World Cup in 2002 and the Barcelona squad that won the UEFA Champions League in 2006. A short statement on Zaragoza's official website on transfer deadline day read: "Brazilian midfielder Edmilson is from today a new player of Real Zaragoza."
