Welsh midfielder welcomed back by Wolves

Wolves have been handed a welcome boost with the news that David Edwards has returned to full training. The Wales international has spent more than a month on the sidelines with an ankle problem, but was welcomed back into the first-team fold on Monday. Having picked up a knock in the 1-0 win at Tottenham on 12th December, Edwards was initially expected to be out of action for up to eight weeks. However, he suffered a setback in training while on the road to recovery and his return was pushed back. The 24-year-old could be handed a run-out for the reserves against Alvechurch on Tuesday night, as he steps up his rehabilitation, but boss Mick McCarthy has refused to put a timescale on when he expects to have Edwards back in first-team contention.

Thrilled

"David has trained today," he said in the Express and Star. "He's fine and it would be great to get him back playing again. But this was his first day back since he got injured four weeks ago which came after he did the injury in December. "So he's had two days full training in three months and we'll just see how he is. I'm not going to make any predictions on Dave. "It would be lovely to have him back and if he's back for the last six games of the season, I'd be thrilled because there are games to be won then."
