Charlton have snapped up Queens Park Rangers full-back Gary Borrowdale on an emergency month's loan.

Former Palace youngster to fill void at left-back

Charlton Athletic have snapped up Queens Park Rangers full-back Gary Borrowdale on an emergency month's loan. Borrowdale has not featured for QPR since Neil Warnock took over as manager and has been allowed to link up with Charlton. The League One promotion contenders are currently short of cover at left-back following injuries to Grant Basey and Kelly Youga. Addicks boss Phil Parkinson had previously brought in Johnnie Jackson to cover the position, but the on-loan Notts County man is out for six weeks with a hamstring injury.

Quality player

Borrowdale has now been signed to fill the void and Parkinson is happy to have added the former Crystal Palace youngster to his squad. "We're pleased to get Gary on board," Parkinson told the club's official website. "I think everyone realises that we need a recognised left-back and Gary is a quality player with a natural left foot who gives us balance on that side of the pitch." The 24-year-old is set go straight into the Charlton side for Saturday's game at home to struggling Gillingham.
