Bluebirds full-back insists he is happy at the club

Cardiff defender Adam Matthews says he is ignoring speculation linking him with a move away from the club. The 18-year-old full-back has reportedly been courted by a number of Premier League clubs after some eye-catching performances for the Bluebirds. But despite the transfer rumours, Matthews, who is set to be offered a new deal, insists he is happy at the club. "I ignore speculation and focus on playing football," he said. "It's difficult when you hear about clubs being linked with you and every footballer wants to play in the Premier League, but I'm at Cardiff City and still learning. "I am happy with Cardiff and the only thing in my thoughts is to train and play as best I can." Matthews' representatives have been in talks with the club over a new contract, which will reportedly double the youngster's current wage. Chairman Peter Ridsdale added: "I spoke to Adam and his father, Steve, after our match at Leicester City. "We will be getting together as soon as possible to sort things out." Cardiff's next game is against Watford at home in the Championship on Sunday.
