Derby keen on Dutch full-back

Derby have confirmed their interest in signing Dutch full-back Danny Buijs. The Rams were linked with a move for the 27-year-old in January and have been tracking him for most of this season. Derby boss Nigel Clough is understood to have travelled to Holland on Friday to check on Buijs personally. And Rams coach Johnny Metgod admits the ADO Den Haag player would be a good signing for the club. "I worked with him at Feyenoord. He can play right-back or in a 4-4-2 he can even push on into midfield," said Metgod. "He is a player with a lot of determination and his work-rate is unbelievable. He gives it everything, exactly like we played in the victory over Leicester City. "Every game he plays he gives it everything he has got. He has a good energy rate, likes to go forward, gets the odd goal, is good at set-pieces and has a long throw-in. "I think he is a good player who can do a good job here. "Personally, I would be delighted if he signed because I think he can be a real asset. "At Groningen, he was voted the most valuable player by the supporters."
