Wolves boss confident striker will retain focus

Mick McCarthy is confident Kevin Doyle will continue to focus on Wolves' survival fight despite speculation over his future. The Republic of Ireland international has been a key figure for the Molineux club this season as they look to retain their Premier League status. Doyle, signed for a club-record £6.5million from Reading in the summer, has bagged seven top-flight goals this season to help Wolves to 14th in the table, five points clear of the drop zone. That has led to reports of interest from Aston Villa and Everton, but McCarthy believes his star striker will not be affected.

He said: "He's been terrific and, to tell you the truth, I would be more surprised if top teams weren't sitting up there and taking notice. "There is a lot being spoken about Doyley, but I tell you what, he just takes it in his stride. "He is a team player and he doesn't get carried away with it all. He just gets on with the job. He loves it. "Speculation about him doesn't bother me and it certainly doesn't seem to bother him."
