Rovers boss will keep a watchful eye on combative midfielder

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce will be keeping a watchful eye on Tim Cahill on Saturday and has urged match officials to do the same. The Rovers manager has questioned Cahill's physical approach on the pitch which he believes to be mildly aggressive. He does, however, accept that the Australia international is playing exceptionally well at the moment and admits it will be hard for his players to keep tabs on him. Asked his views on Cahill's combative approach, he said on Sky Sports News: "Tim Cahill is Tim Cahill - he is a very good player."

Keeping a close eye

He added: "I think that he uses what he has got exceptionally well and it is up to the referee whether he decides he uses it illegally or legally, that's all I'm saying. "I watched him score two very good goals on Wednesday (against Aston Villa) and he is a very dangerous player. "I'm not saying he is a dirty player by any stretch of the imagination, but I am saying he uses his strength very cutely and very well indeed. "We have to keep a close eye on him." Rovers have lost only two games at home this season and have drawn their last two league matches, while Everton have drawn their last three fixtures.
