Birmingham defender Stephen Carr has been handed a one-match ban by the Football Association.
Carr was charged with improper conduct following the controversial Midlands derby defeat by Aston Villa at Villa Park last weekend.
The veteran defender appeared to aim an obscene gesture at the home supporters after the match and also kicked the penalty spot prior to James Milner's match-winning effort from 12 yards.
Carr admitted the charge and attended a personal hearing on Thursday where his suspension was confirmed by the FA's disciplinary commission.
He will now miss Saturday's clash with relegated Burnley as Blues look to establish themselves in the top half of the table.
West Midlands Police are also expected to question Carr over the alleged gesture to the home supporters.

Birmingham were also charged on Tuesday with failing to control their players after referee Martin Atkinson awarded the spot-kick when defender Roger Johnson was adjudged to have fouled Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor.
The club have until 13th May to respond.
Johnson has been asked by the FA to explain his claim afterwards that Atkinson was "a disgrace".
TV replays showed the defender had got a touch on the ball and Johnson said: "The referee was a disgrace. He's ruined the match and clearly shouldn't be doing these kind of games - it was too big for him."
