French club shun option of permanent deal

Didier Digard is on his way back to Middlesbrough after French club Nice opted against signing him on a permanent basis. Digard joined Nice on loan in January after seemingly failing to convince Gordon Strachan that he should remain at the Riverside. The Frenchman made three substitute appearances under Strachan before being allowed to depart. Digard's time back in France went quite well as he made 12 appearances. But Nice have accepted that they cannot afford the £4million option to make the deal permanent and it is also believed the player's wages are also too big. Nice may try to take Digard on loan again, and Boro could be open to that option. While Digard has been allowed to depart, the club have made the loan of Argentine Renato Civelli permanent.
