New Coventry City manager Aidy Boothroyd is hoping to convince goalkeeper Keiren Westwood to stay at the Ricoh Arena.
Westwood is regarded among the best keepers outside the Premier League and has been linked with the likes of Everton and Sunderland in the past.
The Sky Blues are keen to secure the Republic of Ireland international on a new contract and Boothroyd is looking to discuss the club's future plans with the 25-year-old.
"Keiren is a really good goalkeeper," Boothroyd told the
Coventry Evening Telegraph.
"He's an international and has not played in the top flight yet, but he has not played in a winning team that has got promotion so those will be things in the back of his mind.
"He will be thinking 'maybe I want to stay here and be part of what the chairman and manager are trying to build'.
"I am sure he can go and make a quick buck somewhere else, but at the end of the day it is about medals and experiences, so I am looking forward to meeting him and meeting all of the boys because we are not a one-man team."
Coventry chairman Ray Ranson has confirmed clubs have shown an interest in the former Carlisle United keeper, but talks are continuing over a contract extension.
Ranson said: "Some big clubs want him, but if we can we want to get him to stay.
"Aidy has asked the same question, we are doing our best and we are talking to his agent."
