Irons boss says striker wanted by a number of clubs

Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins has revealed there has been a lot of interest for striker Gary Hooper. The 22-year-old forward scored 19 goals in 35 Championship appearances last season and Celtic have sent scouts down to Glanford Park to assess his performances. Adkins says the club's chairman is the one to ask regarding any possible move, and insists Hooper will not be unsettled by the speculation. "There has been a lot of interest in Gary all season - a lot of interest," he told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. "A lot of clubs have been watching him all season. I know Celtic have been down on numerous occasions. "But Gary can handle the attention because he is a sensible kid. "I don't know anything about him being up in Glasgow for a look around because our chairman is dealing with any interest that comes along. But I do know there has been plenty." Scunthorpe narrowly avoided relegation from the second-tier last term, finishing five points above the Championship drop zone. They face another tough campaign ahead if they are going to remain in the division, and Iron fans will be keen for Hooper to remain at the club.
