Rams reveal defender's groin problem requires operation
Derby defender Jake Buxton will undergo surgery in an attempt to clear up a long-standing injury.
Buxton has been plagued by a groin problem which restricted his first season in Derby colours to 24 appearances.
The 25-year-old went to see a specialist last week for further assessment on the damage and it emerged the centre-half will go under the knife on Tuesday.
The news is another setback for the former Burton Albion player, who will miss the majority of the Rams' pre-season preparations as a result of the procedure.
Derby physiotherapist Neil Sullivan hopes the move will put an end to the stopper's troubles with the injury.
He told the club's official website: "Jake's groin has not settled and he is having surgery today to hopefully solve the problem.
"He should be up and running in four to six weeks."
