Nicklas Bendtner could be doubtful for the start of Arsenal's new Premier League season after failing to fully recover from a persistent groin injury.
The 22-year-old underwent a groin operation last November and while he was a regular during the second half of the campaign the surgery failed to completely resolve the problem.
Bendtner started all three of Denmark's World Cup group matches this summer and he scored in their 2-1 win over Cameroon, although they failed to qualify for the second round.
The striker has been resting since the finals in South Africa, but he has now conceded that the problem still remains despite complete rest since their tournament concluded.
Bendtner returns to Arsenal next week from holiday and has confirmed he is to undergo a thorough scan in an attempt to get to the bottom of his groin injury once and for all.
Worried
"I still feel quite bad in my groin," he told the
Daily Mirror. "And that worries me a lot.
"Sadly it hasn't been better during my holiday, like I expected it to giving it nothing but rest.
"I had hoped and counted on that a total break from football and training would heal the injury but it hasn't happened.
"I have spoken to Arsenal throughout the holiday and I am having a big scan when I return this week.
"My whole body must be scanned to find out where the groin problem really comes from.
"I still feel pain and it is very frustrating. I don't know where I am in relation to playing football."
