Left-back reportedly rows with Marseille coach as he seeks move

Taye Taiwo has reportedly rowed with coach Didier Deschamps as he seeks to engineer a transfer away from Marseille. The Nigerian left-back has a year left on his contract and is believed to be interesting both Tottenham and Liverpool, although Atletico Madrid is thought to be his preferred choice of destination. The 25-year-old is desperate to leave Stade Velodrome after his first-team opportunities were reduced by the arrival of Gabriel Heinze from Real Madrid last term. But Marseille president Jean Claude Dassier has previously ruled out the possibility of Taiwo leaving this summer, as has Deschamps. A heated exchange is now reported to taken place between the player and coach after Deschamps told his defender he must honour his contract. Taiwo instead told his boss he wanted to move to Spain and nothing else and reports claim Jose Anigo, the club's sporting director, had to be the peacemaker between the pair. Speaking about the situation, Taiwo told skysports.com: "Marseille know where I stand on this issue of a transfer. "They are the ones who have to sort it out - I made my feelings clear to them."
