Former Charlton striker Izale McLeod has not done enough to earn a deal with Brentford.
The 25-year-old frontman, who was released from The Valley at the end of last season, has been on trial at Griffin Park and played in the Bees' last two friendlies.
But, despite a shortage in numbers up front, boss Andy Scott has decided against offering the McLeod a contract.
Carl Cort and Charlie MacDonald are both struggling with knocks ahead of Saturday's League One opener with Carlisle, which means Scott could be forced to partner Myles Weston in attack - a pairing he used in Friday's friendly with Palace.
"Myles played up front last year and did well, so it's an option," he told the Ealing Gazette.
"Nicky and him have formed a decent partnership. They managed to get in behind Palace and created chances."
