Brown also closes on Rovers starlet

Motherwell have signed Spanish striker Esteban Casagolda and are close to landing Blackburn youngster Nick Blackman. Casagolda has signed a one-year deal at Fir Park after impressing Well boss Craig Brown on trial. The 23-year-old is expected to go straight into the squad for this weekend's SPL opener with Hibernian. Brown also revealed the club are close to sealing a loan deal for Blackburn forward Blackman as he looks to add to his attacking options. "We're pleased to have signed Esteban and we think he'll provide good fodder for John Sutton and Jamie Murphy," Brown told the club's official website.

Loan deal

"We are also hopeful of completing a loan move for Blackburn's Nick Blackman tomorrow (Friday). "He comes very highly recommended from Sam Allardyce and Steve Kean, two men I trust implicitly. "I want to be clear though that neither are a reflection on our current strikers, Jamie Murphy and John Sutton, who have been fantastic for us. "Any SPL team needs at least five strikers and, if we can complete the capture of Blackman, we'll have just that."
