Striker set to make debut against Reading

Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Everton striker James Vaughan on a three-month loan deal. Vaughan first broke into the Toffees side as a highly-rated teenager in 2005 but his progress has since been hampered by a series of injuries. As such he has struggled to get a run of games in the first team, with David Moyes also dipping into the transfer market to regularly strengthen his attacking options and create increased competition for places. Vaughan, now 22, found himself behind the likes of Louis Saha and Jermaine Beckford in the Goodison Park pecking order at the start of this term. Having spent time on loan with Derby and Leicester last season, he has now been allowed to go out again to get more matches under his belt. A number of clubs were thought to be interested in taking Vaughan but it is Palace who have struck a deal with Everton. The young forward will go straight into the Palace squad for Saturday's Championship clash at Reading.
