Preston boss Darren Ferguson has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association following Saturday's stormy derby defeat at Burnley.
Ferguson has been charged with improper conduct aggravated by insulting and/or abusive language and behaviour for his conduct towards referee Kevin Friend in the tunnel following Preston's 4-3 loss.
Under the FA's new fast-track procedures, Ferguson has until Friday 17th September to respond to the charge.
The FA may take into account his previous misconduct charge from last season when deciding on Ferguson's punishment.
He was given a two-match touchline ban, suspended until the end of the 2009-10 season, for improper conduct towards the referee when in charge of Peterborough in a match against West Brom in August 2009.
A regulatory commission will hear the case within 10 days of his reply while Ferguson has until Thursday 16th September to explain the comments attributed to him in the media after Saturday's game.
Injuries
Meanwhile, Ferguson believes loan duo Matt James and Josh King will be short-term absentees following the ankle injuries they picked up at Burnley.
Neither player will be fit to face Nottingham Forest on Tuesday but Ferguson is hopeful James could be back in time to face Norwich this weekend.
"Matt has had two scans and the results were both positive. Neither showed a break or any ligament damage," said Ferguson.
"He's going for a third scan and if he gets the all-clear, amazingly he could be fit for Saturday.
"Josh hasn't had his scan yet. He was in too much pain to have it done at the weekend. But we're thinking two or three weeks for him."
