Juventus have announced that Giorgio Chiellini is set to sign a new deal in the next few weeks.

Juve defender did not almost join Man City

Juventus have announced that Giorgio Chiellini is set to sign a new deal in the next few weeks. The Italy defender recently revealed that he was ready to begin negotiations over a contract extension and those talks have now taken place. Chiellini is already tied to the club until 2013 but he is happy to stay and they are looking to tie him down for a further two years. A statement from Juve read: "The club executives met with Giorgio Chiellini. The two sides are very close to reaching an agreement for a contract renewal. "The details of the deal will be revealed in a few weeks' time."

Nothing concrete

Chiellini has been linked with a move away from Juve at various times in the past but maintains that he could not imagine a future anywhere else. "In Turin I'm fine," said the 26-year-old. "I was 20 when I arrived and I feel very attached to the club and the fans. "I grew up here as a man and as a footballer. I owe so much to the Bianconeri." Chiellini insists that he never came close to joining Manchester City during the summer after reportedly being targeted by Roberto Mancini. "There were so many words, but there was never anything concrete either with them or with Real Madrid," he explained.
