Race on to land Aberdeen hit-man

Skysports.com understands a host of clubs are chasing Scotland hot-shot Chris Maguire. Aberdeen striker Maguire made clubs across Europe sit up and take notice of him with his wonder goal for Scotland Under 21s against Iceland on Monday night. Maguire scored arguably one of the greatest goals of all-time when he netted from the halfway line at the restart following a goal for Iceland. The 21-year-old was the star for the Under 21s side throughout qualifying, with six goals in the campaign and he has been tipped to make the step-up to Craig Levein's senior squad in the near future. Maguire's contract at Aberdeen expires at the end of the season and this has alerted a number of clubs in England and abroad to his possible availability. Maguire's boyhood heroes Celtic are also thought to be monitoring his situation and they could offer him the chance to stay in Scotland if he ends up leaving Aberdeen. The player's agent, Willie McKay, has confirmed a number of clubs are tracking Maguire and that the interest in his services has intensified in the wake of his sensational goal against Iceland. "A lot of clubs have spoken to me to ask me about Chris' situation and even more have now following his wonder strike for Scotland's Under 21s. "Chris is out of contract at the end of the season and I have spoken to [Aberdeen's director of footall] Willie Miller about that and we will see what develops. "Chris has been a long time at Aberdeen and he is focusing on doing his best for them, but he is keeping all his options open with regards his future."
