Midfielder wants surge up league

Joe Cole hopes Sunday's 2-1 win over Blackburn can kick-start Liverpool's season. The Reds earned just their second Premier League win of the campaign at Anfield thanks to goals from Sotirios Kyrgiakos and Fernando Torres. They remain in the bottom three, with nine points from their nine games, but Cole wants his side to use the result as a springboard to climb the table. "It feels like a weight off our shoulders and the whole place has been lifted by this victory," Cole told the club's official website. "It was an important three points and it's a great confidence boost for us. We've got until next Sunday now to prepare for our next game against Bolton which will be similar to Blackburn. "It's time we turned this around and start picking up wins now and that's what we hope to do."

Atmosphere

Cole, who signed for the club on a free transfer in the summer, paid special tribute to the fans, who were whipped into a frenzy before the game when singer Gerry Marsden performed a rendition of Liverpool's famous anthem 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. "That was brilliant because it lifted everyone and if we'd have scored in the first five minutes you would have had to give Gerry the assist!" Cole added. "The supporters are brilliant and I can't wait to experience the atmosphere on a big European night in the future. "The atmosphere was brilliant and that's why I signed for this club."
