Tunisian defender suspended after second red card

Hannover defender Karim Haggui has been hit with a five-match ban following his red card against Borussia Dortmund on Sunday. Haggui was handed the punishment on Monday by the German Football Assosciation (DFB). The Tunisia international was shown a straight red card in the 77th minute after kicking out at Jakub Blaszczykowski. The Dortmund substitute went down in the penalty area and Haggui turned around to aim a kick towards his head after telling Blaszczykowski to get back to his feet. Dortmund, who led 2-0 at the time, were awarded a penalty and although Nuri Sahin missed it, they added two late goals to claim a 4-0 away win, with Blaszczykowski completing the scoring in stoppage time. Haggui will be eligible again for mid-table Hannover's last match before the winter break, an away game against Nuremberg on 18th December. The 26-year-old defender has started eight of Hannover's 11 Bundesliga games so far this season but was also shown a straight red card in the 1-0 home defeat by St Pauli on 1st October.
