Foxes boss delighted to have shot-stopper in his ranks

Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson insists he knows how good a player Chris Kirkland is after signing the Wigan Athletic goalkeeper on an emergency deal. The Foxes boss has been busy in the loan market since taking over the Championship strugglers last month and the Swede has made another coup in the signing of Kirkland. The Latics goalkeeper has joined his hometown club until the New Year after finding first-team opportunities difficult at the DW Stadium this season. And Eriksson, who called Kirkland up for England duty during his time as Three Lions coach, is happy to have the 29-year-old custodian in his ranks over the festive period. He told Sky Sports News HD: "He's a big guy and a very good goalkeeper. I had him at England, he never played at that time but he trained with us a lot. "He has experience from England and the Premier League so he should be very good at this level. "I think his problem has been injuries for many years but he's fit now and let's hope he stays fit."
