Midfielder wants to finish career at Old Trafford

Michael Carrick has expressed his desire to finish his career at Manchester United ahead of any contract talks. The 29-year-old's contract expires in 2012 but talks regarding a new deal have yet to take place. But the midfielder, who has recently returned to action following six weeks on the sidelines after an injection in a troublesome Achilles tendon, insists Old Trafford is the place for him. The former Tottenham and West Ham man, who joined from Spurs in July 2006 for £18.6million, told The People: "Nothing has happened regarding talks as yet, but this is the place for me - it's a great club.

Unbelievable times

"I've had some unbelievable times here and, hopefully, will have many more. I love everything about being a United player." Carrick is glad to be back following his spell on the sidelines and hopes the Red Devils - who went top of the Premier League with the 7-1 hammering of Blackburn on Saturday - can now push on. He added: "It's been a struggle, but as a player you have ups and downs. "We believe if we can hit top form then we have a great chance of winning the league."
