Hull City boss Nigel Pearson has confirmed he is trying to finalise a move for James Chester after agreeing an undisclosed fee with Manchester United.
Skysports.com revealed last week that the Tigers had lined up a deal for Chester following the defender's impressive loan spell at Carlisle United.
League One club Carlisle have confirmed the youngster's loan has expired ahead of the centre-half's proposed move to the KC Stadium.
Pearson aims to wrap up the deal within the next 24 hours and Chester will follow Aaron Mclean and Matty Fryatt in joining Hull.

"We're trying to conclude the deal but we're not quite over the line," Pearson told the
Hull Daily Mail.
"Hopefully we'll be able to do that in the next day. The fee has been agreed so hopefully we can conclude things.
"He'll bring a bit of quality. He's a different type of player, he's not a massive centre-back.
"But it would be a good move for the present and the future, I think he'll be a really good signing for us. He's a player with a lot of promise."
