Mancini will never make move for Juve keeper

Roberto Mancini has insisted he will never try to sign Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon. Buffon has been with Juve for almost a decade but speculation surfaced last year linking him with a move elsewhere. Manchester City were thought to be interested as manager Mancini looked to strengthen his squad in as many departments as possible. However, Mancini maintains that he already has one of the finest keepers in the business and has no need to look for a new No.1. England international Joe Hart was given the nod over the experienced Shay Given at the start of the season and Mancini believes he will go from strength to strength over the coming seasons.

Sacrificed

"The way I see it is that Buffon remains one of the best goalkeepers in the world," Mancini told Tuttosport. "But we have decided for some time to point on Hart, who is a young player with enormous potential. "We believe so much in him to the point of having sacrificed a great No.1 like Given. "Hence, I can categorically say that we will never make any offers for Buffon."
