Joe Allen remains committed to Swansea City despite attracting interest from the Premier League.

Joe Allen remains committed to Swansea City despite attracting interest from the Premier League. The Wales international midfielder, who has been linked with West Ham and Wigan, remains under contract with the Liberty Stadium side until the end of next season. Manager Brendan Rodgers approached Allen's agent Glenn Corcoran back in October regarding an extension, with formal talks expected to take place in the coming months. Corcoran confirmed he had been approached by teams from the top-flight regarding his client, but insisted that the 20-year-old will not be going anywhere in the near future. "Joe still has the rest of this season and another year on his contract and he fully intends to honour that," Corcoran told the South Wales Evening Post.

New contract

"We do get inquiries about him and some Premier League clubs have been in touch, but we just pass them on to Swansea. "It's always nice to get that interest because it tells you that you're doing something right. But Joe's focus is only on Swansea. "Brendan has talked to us about the possibility of a new contract. He phoned me after the Wigan game (in October) and said he would like to get round to offering Joe something. "I was a bit surprised the call came as early as it did because most clubs these days tend to leave it until the final year of the present deal. "But Joe is a big asset for Swansea, they are pleased with him, and Joe will be happy to discuss a new contract. "No date has been set to start talking and whether it happens now or towards the end of the season I don't know, but we said we would get together at a convenient time."
